Row For Hope - MarineTrack support Paul Ridley Atlantic Challenge
Paul Ridley, 25, began his unsupported trans-Atlantic expedition leaving in the Canary Islands on New Years Day 09. With only oars to power him, he has set off in an attempt to cross the Atlantic, travelling more than 3,000 nautical miles and spending between 60 and 80 days and nights at sea.
In his state-of-the-art, custom-built fiberglass composite craft named Liv (Norwegian for “Life”), he will row up to 12 hours each day and hopes to arrive in the Caribbean in February 09. Designed by accomplished British ocean rowboat designer Phil Morrison in collaboration with the world-class Rhode Island boat builders Aquidneck Custom, Liv is only 19 feet long and 5 feet wide.
Following the death of his mother to skin cancer, Paul was motivated by her belief that nothing is impossible. He has dedicated his challenge in her memory and is raising funds for the Yale Cancer Center, a cutting-edge research centre dedicated to bringing tomorrow's cancer treatments and cures to patients today.
MarineTrack are proud to support Paul in his challenge and provide friends and family the ability to follow his progress. Fitted with a MarineTrack Track800D, his location will be updated hourly using the INMARSAT D+ satellite technology and can be viewed via a dedicated console page from any computer (view via www.rowforhope.com)

Teen Sailor set off on his world challenge
Teen sailor Michael Perham set off from Portsmouth late November in the hope to become the youngest person to sail around the world single-handed.
Michael was waved off by scores of family, friends and other well-wishers as he began a grueling four-month, 21,000-mile voyage.
Two years ago, aged 14, Michael became the youngest person to sail across the Atlantic and that made him determined to take on a bigger challenge.
"This is much harder," he said before setting sail on his 50ft carbon-fibre racing yacht. "The Atlantic was three or four weeks but this will be over four months and the boat is much bigger and harder to handle." However, the toughest part will not be any storms he might run into but "the fact that you are alone for so long, away from friends and family," he said.

Tricky conditions for our Atlantic Rowers
Nearly two weeks in, 576 nautical miles completed and 1976 to go, the Atlantic Rowing Race 2007 is the ultimate test of the human spirit.
24 boats set off and 22 are still competing with two retirements, one of which is unknown and the other being due to a man overboard incident, which thankfully ended with both rowers returning home safely.
After a perfect start, the fleet have come up against some tricky conditions with an Easterly wind helping push the boats on into the Atlantic, but making the sea choppy and confused. Two boats have lost their drogues, three have broken steering and two have broken rudders. Lets hope things improve for them!
Only 21 miles seperate the two leading boats and only 80 miles seperate the top 6. The event is being tracked by MarineTrack and you can see all the latest at www.atlanticrowingrace2007.co.uk

The world's greatest offshore powerboat race is on track!
The Round Britain Powerboat Race 2008 has taken to a new dimension as MarineTrack are confirmed as the official tracking provider for the event.
The event which starts on the 21 st June and runs over 9 legs and ten days is tipped as the marine event of the year and MarineTrack will be bringing the worlds most gruelling offshore powerboat race online.
MarineTrack's Sales & Marketing Manager Damian McCann said: "It's going to be out of this world with a huge amount of boats already entered. We're dead excited and proud as punch to be a part of what is a historical event. Logistically and technically it's going to be a challenge but we're putting everything into it to make it a great online experience. As the boats blast round Britain, tracking will give it a new dimension and allows everyone with access to the internet to get involved. We've worked with some great events recently with the Clipper race, the Woodvale Transatlantic Rowing Challenge, to name a few, but the Round Britain Powerboat race should be a corker!"
For information on how you can get your event tracked, please contact MarineTrack on 01273 462001
