At the 2006 Maxi Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, Sardinia between, MarineTrack were asked to provide a tracking solution for 15 yachts taking part in the event.

Race Organiser, Edoardo Recchi, said:

"The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the Rolex Swan Cup have been concluded successfully and the RaceTrack system worked very well and we were supported in the best possible way by MarineTrack"

Marine Track was happy to support Team Global Yacht in the 2006 Round Britain & Ireland Race. The team were competing and raising money and awareness for Sail 4 Cancer. In order to generate more interest and gain maximum exposure for the Sail 4 Cancer charity, they fitted a VesselTrack system to the yacht so that friends, family and the media could follow their progress on line. One panicky mum said:

"I was reassured to learn that the girls were going to be tracked by TWO sites - the official race one AND Marine Track .From the start of the race, I monitored the girls' progress on both sites. As soon as the girls were disqualified, they disappeared from the Sevenstar site, and I was so thankful that your monitoring system carried on tracking them on such a regular basis. It was so reassuring to see their steady progress on the route and to know that someone was reporting on their position almost every hour. It was also very comforting for me to know that there was a live person at the end of your contact email, as evidenced by your prompt response to my query. Thank you once more. I would not hesitate to recommend the use of your tracking system to anyone considering yacht racing.

I shall obviously continue to access the race tracker until the girls are safely moored up in Cowes harbour."

MarineTrack were asked to supply tracking systems for the 24 participating yachts in the Norddeautscher Regatta Verein (NRV), which starts in Kiel and ends in Hamburg . Race: organiser Torben Knappe:

"Marine Track are the only truly professional satellite tracking company offering the international yacht racing sectoe, a one shop solution encompassing hardware, airtime, software and web interfcae development. Their turn around time for the HSHNordbank pre blue race was impressive."

Following in the spirit of the great explorers of Africa , Neil McGrigor and his team set out to be the first people to achieve a complete ascent of the River Nile, whilst re-measuring the length of the Nile and bring its true length to the world's attention. In order to gain maximum exposure the team decided to use MarineTrack in order to track their progress and extend the experience to everyone who was following their progress via the web.

On 3 June 2006 Luke Yeates and Mark Angell, set out to achieve a new record for the first beach catamaran circumnavigation of Britain . They chose to use the VesselTrack system in order to gain maximum exposure of their challenge and to give their family and friends complete peace of mind. One concerned friend said:

"Can I say a huge big THANK YOU to your tracking system and your support with the lads. It has been great watching their progress and in turn I've sent the BritCat web site to many friends, yachtsmen as far a field as Australia , New Zealand and the UAE have logged on to follow them so well done. Keep up the great work.

Yvonne Mentor - mum of Luke's girlfriend.

The boys were impressed with robustness of the tracking unit fitted on the Hobbie:

"The Hobbie Tiger is a very wet boat. The Tracker was often totally submerged but was tough enough to withstand all conditions".

The Royal Caribbean International's 'Freedom of the seas', the largest cruise ship in the world is currently testing the commercial version of VesselTrack.

In the Summer of 2005, World Record holders Neil McGrigor and Tony Jenvey, together with Jeremy Watts and John Guille, set out on their record attempt to circumnavigate Round Britain in record time in a revolutionary powerboat. The team used MarineTrack's VesselTrack system in order to monitor their progress and have the best possible chance of succeeding. Neil McGrigor said:

"The whole effort was kept alive throughout, as our support team were able to make a constant judgment on our progress and plan the ETA for refueling - an essential part of the record attempt".

An Azimut 46 ft luxury yacht owned in Germany was taken by suspected thieves purporting to charter the boat for a cruise along the North Dalmation coast yesterday. The charterers did not realise the boat was fitted with a covert tracking system supplied by MarineTrack. As the suspects sped southwards passing Albania and heading into Greece, their progress was being monitored constantly by the MarineTrack control centre in Shoreham West Sussex UK.

Theft of boats is an increasing problem especially in the Mediterranean where thieves can make a quick getaway. Stolen luxury yachts are often found in Russian waters, but their recovery is almost impossible. In this case the yacht was stopped before the suspected thieves had managed to reach the Black Sea.

Barrakuda was chartered to six Slovenians for a two week charter along the North Dalmation coast. Schmidt and Dauser the Yacht Management Company were alarmed when they logged on to the MarineTrack site and noticed that Barrakuda had left its berth in the early hours of Saturday and was not in its cruising area, but instead heading south past Albania at top speed of 40 knots.

Schmidt and Dauser Company requested MarineTrack to increase the frequency of position reports as they suspected that Barrakuda (worth 795,000 USD) had been stolen.

The boat was tracked as it made its way down the coast of Greece and into the Gulf of Korinthiakos towards the Korinthos Canal which leads into the Aegean Sea. Within 24 hours the luxury yacht could have made its way to Russia via the Black Sea.

The boat maintained a speed of 40 knots until it stopped at Kiato in search of fuel.

With the accuracy of the C-Map Charts used by MarineTrack, we were even able to inform the Greek Coastguard which side of the refueling pontoon Barrakuda was moored.

The Greek Coastguard had been waiting for the vessel just a few miles away at the entrance to the Korinthos canal. Knowing the vessel would take at least an hour to refuel, the Greek coastguard raced up the coast and seized the vessel.

Olaf Sabel of the insurance company said "We have been a bit reserved about the use of Marine tracking systems for insurance purposes. However the performance of the MarineTrack system has convinced us of the benefits - it was just fantastic, very very good".

Miss Dauser of Schmidt and Dauser said "We are really glad we fitted a MarineTrack system - its performance has been excellent, and without MarineTrack we would probably never have seen this yacht again.

In 2003, the adventurer Bear Grylls set out in a custom made RIB to cross the Atlantic in an open RIB.

As the team battled their way to Iceland, they began to experience power failure to their battery bank which supported their communications equipment. It was essential for the team to have working communications especially in the Cold and very remote conditions they have been enduring with storms and mountainous seas.

Luckily the RIB had a Marinetrack unit onboard and the Power failure was detected and reported to the Bear Grylls Control centre. The cause of the problem was quickly located and rectified.

MarineTrack's technical support was vital to the expedition team in providing monitoring and tracking services during their dangerous expedition. The speed and precision of the MarineTrack system meant the problem was detected before it became a dangerous situation for the courageous team.
